Neuroquest: Riddles in the Dark
The dangerously glittering Caves of Carbonum seem to be behind you, and you emerge on the far side of the mountain range, eager to breathe the free air. However, the free air is only yours for a short while. To best reach the land where the Golden Ganglion grows, you know you must now venture east, and on the eastward horizon you observe an immense forest, stretching as far as your eyes can see. In you go… and as the thick woods close in around you, you find your head spinning, and the overgrown path is easy to lose. How can you navigate in this darkness?
Fate, it seems, may intervene. After a few wrong turns through a quicksand swamp and a den of giant spiders (why does it always have to be spiders?), your party pauses at a crossroads in a clearing. Before you sits a strange-looking, strange-smelling, strange-talking little creature, who most likely has lived here a long time.
“Lost, is it?” asks the mysterious being. It must be you. “Show it the way, I can, but only if it plays a game, for so few travelers come this way, and I’m bored, yes, oh so bored…”
You share a look with your party. What’s the worst that could happen? Carefully, you reply, “Tell us about this game.”
The creature grins a slightly too hungry grin. “Oh, yes, it will play with me now, yesss! It is a game… of riddlessssss…”
