More than a Game

YouTube’s Geek Week has inspired us here at Seung Lab to a number of actions celebrating brains. Today we hosted a Neuroscience of Memory Hangout with Steve Ramirez of Nobel Prize winning Tonegawa Lab. Below he talks about their research into memory formation, answers viewers’ questions and tells an awesome story about how Hollywood movies inspired his group to brainstorm interesting questions, one of which led to their research project currently on the cover of Science.

We also released the first EyeWire animation, which we’re pleased to share has been featured by YouTube in a Brainiac Highlights Playlist. This animation will get a post of it’s own; for now we’re simply delighted to show you some of the beautiful nurons that EyeWire players have discovered.

Keep playing — the Geek Week Games run until Saturday, April 10th at Midnight!
