Second session runs from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Friday 8/23
Third session runs from 10:00 PM to midnight on Friday 8/23
Archery actually made it’s debut at the Paris Olympics! The 1900 Paris Olympics that is. It may be a little on-the-nose, but sometimes you can’t beat the classics. Aim your arrow at the target, or perhaps your mouse at your cube, and go for the bullseye!
Bonuses:
1st Place Accuracy – 10,000 points
2nd Place Accuracy – 8,000 points
3rd Place Accuracy – 6,000 points
Achieve 95% Accuracy – 5,000 points
Achieve 90% Accuracy – 3,000 points
Achieve 80% Accuracy – 2,000 points
1,000 points for anyone under 80% who still plays at least 30 cubes in either slot.

Trivia Hurdles
Begins at 11:00 AM on Sunday 8/25
Continues until 11:00 AM on Tuesday 8/27
Finishes with Power Hour from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Tuesday 8/27
“Athletics” aka track and field events, are consistently one of the most popular groups of sporting events at the Olympics! This year we’re focusing on hurdles, which have been present as an Olympic sport since the first modern Olympics in 1896!
Don’t worry, you don’t need to break a sweat for this event. Instead you’ll only have to overcome mental hurdles as you dig deep into your trivia arsenal and strive for the top spot!
We thought about introducing some mental gymnastics at first, but thought those might not lead to as many factually accurate answers 🤪.
Bonuses:
For every question —
1st to answer – 300 points
2nd to answer – 200 points
3rd to answer – 100 points
Diving vs. Pole Vault
Begins at 11:00 AM on Monday 8/26
Ends at 11:00 AM on Wednesday 8/28
What goes up, must come down. Or what goes down must come up? Depends which way you look at it! For this event choose how you’d like to take-on gravity — by fighting it for the top spot, or following it to victory!
Diving was first introduced to the Olympics during 1904’s St. Louis games, where divers could either perform “plain” dives or “fancy” acrobatic dives. Since its debut diving has evolved a lot, with the addition of springboard dives, synchronized dives, and new dive types. Today there are over 85 platform dives and 60 springboard dives that can be performed!
Pole vaulting has been an Olympic sport from the beginning, but a surprisingly small amount of world records have been beaten during the Olympic games. In the men’s competition, one of those records was beaten this year by Swedish Olympian Armand “Mondo” Duplantis, who cleared the bar at an amazing 6.25 m (20 ft 6 in)!
Bonuses:
Starting Lineup – top 3 players on each team, who earn 75% of their score in bonus points
All Other Players – earn 50% of their score in bonus points
Winning Team – 20,000 additional points
Each Team’s MVP – 5,000 additional points
(The winning team is determined by average points per player, with 2x weight given to Starting Lineup players. To qualify for any of the above bonuses or affect the team score, players must earn a minimum baseline of 2,000 points.)
Marathon Cycling
Begins at 10:00 AM on Wednesday 8/28
Ends at 10:00 AM on Thursday 8/29
Although not technically called a marathon, the Cycling Road Race is indeed a demanding test of endurance similar to that of marathon running or swimming.
In this year’s Olympics, the race was held outside, and featured the longest men’s road race in history finishing at 273 kilometers (about 169 miles)! The women’s course finished at 158 kilometers (about 98 miles). Paralympic cyclists also competed in Road, with courses ranging from 26km to 125km depending on athlete classification and bicycle type.
Our final event is the long awaited Eyewire Marathon where we hope to finish one or more cells in just 24 hours. Feel free to get on your stationary bike as you play cubes if you really want to get into the Olympic spirit.
Bonuses:
One live cell will be designated the “marathon cell,” with a 3x points multiplier!
Cube count bonuses: 3500 points per cube traced.
SC bonuses are doubled on all cells.
Every 3 SCs counts for 1 cube toward naming eligibility & per-cell completion bonus.
50 cubes = 5,000 points per completed cell, plus rights to vote on a new name for the marathon cell
200 cubes = 10,000 points per completed cell, plus rights to nominate a new name for the marathon cell
