Alice in Neuroland: Accuracy Happy Hours

Lina, Nurro, white rabbit, Accuracy Happy Hour, Eyewire, alice in wonderland

The rabbit-hole went straight on like a tunnel for some way, and then dipped suddenly down, so suddenly that Alice had not a moment to think about stopping herself before she found herself falling down what seemed to be a very deep well.

Either the well was very deep, or she fell very slowly, for she had plenty of time as she went down to look about her, and to wonder what was going to happen next.

Down and down and down you go! Something around you seems to be impeding your fall, and when you finally do land, it is rather gentle— and not in a place of darkness, but of rather bright light. Looking around, you realize you’ve fallen onto a pile of cushy photoreceptor cells. These cells continue in a neural carpet spreading all around you, as far as your own eyes can see! Somehow the White Rabbit must have led you to a retina. The other sight of note is a sign reading “Welcome to Neuroland”…

… and that rascally rabbit again! It’s scampering off through the cells, journeying deeper through this tangled and nubby forest. Perhaps this is the same way it took Alice. You had better chase after it as quick as you can, but be careful; you wouldn’t want to get tangled up in some of these nightmarish bipolar fields. You’ll have two opportunities to follow the White Rabbit while trying to preserve your accuracy! All times are EDT:

Session 1 – 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on 4/20
Session 2 – 10:00 PM to midnight on 4/20

Swag (generously sponsored by @susi): Most accurate player completing at least 20 cubes wins 1 t-shirt and 1 sticker sheet! Second and third place each also win sticker sheets.

HQ will bestow typical Happy Hour bonuses for your work during each of those time frames, but there’s more than that to earn!

95% accuracy – Accuracy Grandmaster
90% accuracy – Accuracy Master
80% accuracy – Accuracy Challenger

Extra point bonuses will be added to your baseline Happy Hour earnings, as follows:

1st Place Accuracy – 10,000 point bonus
2nd Place Accuracy – 8,000 point bonus
3rd Place Accuracy – 6,000 point bonus
Anyone else with 95% – 5,000 point bonus
Anyone else with 90% – 3,000 point bonus
Anyone else with 80% – 2,000 point bonus
Under 80% but played at least 20 cubes – 1,000 point bonus

Please remember that these bonuses are non-cumulative; first place accuracy gets a flat 10,000 points, for example.

Mentors: You are still allowed to mentor people during these time windows. Please just use your best judgment as to whether someone is asking you for basic newbie help vs. trying to have you boost their accuracy on cube after cube.

Scythes: Please avoid scything during these time windows. Even though accuracy for this will be retroactively calculated, we would prefer to go with accuracy based on players’ raw tracing. By the time this challenge is scored, don’t worry, admins will have corrected consensus as needed.
