Summer Games 2024: Trivia Hurdles
“Athletics” aka track and field events, are consistently one of the most popular groups of sporting events at the Olympics!
This year we’re focusing on hurdles, which have been present as an Olympic sport since the first modern Olympics in 1896, when the men’s 110 meter sprint competition was held. Women’s hurdles joined the race in 1932 in the form of the 80 meter hurdles, and was extended to 100 meter hurdles in 1972, which is the current international standard.
There is also a longer 400 meter race, which is the same length for both men and women. This year the world record in women’s 400 meter was broken by Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, who crossed the finish line at just 50.37 seconds!
Hopefully all of this sporty excitement is getting you fired up for a fierce trivia competition! Don’t worry, you don’t need to break a sweat for this event. Instead you’ll only have to overcome mental hurdles as you dig deep into your trivia arsenal and strive for the top spot!
We thought about introducing some mental gymnastics at first, but thought those might not lead to as many factually accurate answers 🤪.
