Summer Games 2024: Archery Happy Hours

Archery actually made it’s debut at the Paris Olympics! The 1900 Paris Olympics that is. The  2nd modern Olympic Games were held alongside the Paris world’s fair and featured archery events with over 5000 archers! However, most of these events were considered to be “qualifying” events, and only seven events were counted towards the official Olympic standings. Archers from just 3 countries – France, Belgium and the Netherlands competed in these events, with French archer Henri Herouin taking home a championship prize.

Archery has been even more original to the Paralympic Games, with the first Paralympics in 1960 featuring Archery as one of just 8 sports! The current Paralympics feature a variety of archery competitions. There are men’s and women’s solo events, and a mixed team event. Within these events athlete’s compete in either the open recurve (classic) bow event, the open compound bow, or the W1 event where a compound bow is used.

The Olympic games feature only recurve bow events, but have and additional two team events – men’s and women’s, alongside the solo and mixed team event.

We discourage aiming an arrow at your computer, but you can aim your mouse inside your cube and go for the most well-clicked branches of all time! Hopefully you get a bullseye!

Mentors: You are still allowed to mentor people during these time windows. Please just use your best judgment as to whether someone is asking you for basic newbie help vs. trying to have you boost their accuracy on cube after cube.

Scythes: Please avoid scything during these time windows. Even though accuracy for this will be retroactively calculated, we would prefer to go with accuracy based on players’ raw tracing. By the time this challenge is scored, don’t worry, admins will have corrected consensus as needed.
