Join the movement: map the first complete, community-built neural network. EVER.
On December 8th, avid members of the EyeWire community joined Sebastian Seung and his colleagues Amy Robinson and Claire O’Connell in a Google+ hangout. The event served both as a means for members of the Seung lab to get to know some of the site’s top users and to officially announce that the site is coming out of beta. Monday, December 10th has been coined “J-Day,” and it marks the first day of the lab’s effort to map a complete neural circuit in the retina. The circuit to be mapped is associated with a neuron called the JAM-B cell (nicknamed the “J-cell”), which is known to be involved in detecting moving objects in the visual scene. Join us as we map the first complete community-built neural network – EVER.
