The Caffeine Challenge: Coffee vs. Tea
Sweet, sweet caffeine: a dependency for many of us, and also something that many simply enjoy. Some don’t consume it, but for those who do, there are a plethora of caffeine delivery methods, whether it’s chocolate or a wide array of drinks. The true caffeine war, of course, is specifically over the hyper-energizing buzz you get from coffee vs. the soothing refreshment from a cup of tea. Historically in the United States this was reflected when colonists boycotted tea as a protest against taxes, dubbing coffee the country’s “patriotic” drink; but today the US is still full of tea drinkers. Across the globe, cultures often remain marked by their warm caffeinated beverage of choice, or by the distinct ways that both drinks semi-peacefully coexist.
What’s your own preference? Do you need a bigger kick than what tea gives you, or do you get jittery and crash from drinking coffee? Or is it less about the effects, and more about the flavor? Pick your team and trace for 24 hours, starting at 11 AM EDT on 9/3.
