Scrooge vs Grinch vs Krampus
The ringing of a street side bell accompanied by a “Seasons Greetings” drifted in through the slight opening of a grimly shuttered window, and was met with a low murmur of “Humbug”. “Rubbish” grumbled the old miser “Drivel and poppycock”. Ebenezer Scrooge, at this point of unknown age, begrudgingly ambled to the window, threw open the shudder…and grimaced. “Christmas has come for me….again” he spat. 171 Christmases ago Scrooge had been possessed by a spirit of merry repentance and holiday cheer, but it has since left him. Scrooge is back, and he doesn’t care much for your holiday spirit.
It was 3 in the morning, when there came such a clatter, that the Grinch was awoken to wonder the matter. But he knew in an instant who was to blame… The Whos had risen ahead of the sun to start their annual Christmas preparation. The Grinch had long ago settled his misgivings about the holiday, but felt that no one has any business causing such a racket about Christmas this early in the morning. “Something must be done!” he exclaimed. “A lesson to be taught, maybe?” While he was talking to himself, the Grinch was entirely unaware that he had grabbed something red from the coat rack, and begun slowly placing it atop his green, oblong head.
For Krampus, Christmas cannot come soon enough. Deep underground, in a hovel carved from unholy earth, the noise of heavy hooves filled the halls like a sickening heart beat. A hulking shadow entered a room, drifted passed a collection of sinister holiday equipment to hover over a series of gashes in the wall. A heavily matted claw carved one more line to add with the others. A countdown.
