Rebecca Saxe’s Quest to Understand Baby Brains

How are we who we are? MIT neuroscience professor Rebecca Saxe is on a scientific quest to figure that out by studying the developing brains of human babies.

At the recent TEDxCambridge, Rebecca shares the story of her 8-year quest to modify fMRI technology so that baby brain activity scans could be taken for the first time. Along the way, she reminds us that the fun part of science is not the discovery on a distant horizon but rather the process of thinking up interesting questions and embarking on expeditions into the unknown. That’s something we can all get behind. For science!
