Featured EyeWirer: DannyS
Welcome to a special edition of Featured EyeWirers! This month we’re highlighting a special player who has been working at Seung Lab this summer!
Introduce yourself! 🙂
Hi! I’m Danny Sparer! I’m from Long Island, New York. Currently I study aerospace engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, in Troy, New York, but I’m working at the Seung Lab this summer!
Why do you play EyeWire?
I play EyeWire because it’s very fun and relaxing. I love to chat with all my friends, and it’s always fulfilling to help out a new player (earning tons of points isn’t too bad either). I love how I can contribute to science in my free time while still having fun, and I feel like my contributions matter!
How did you discover EyeWire?
I found EyeWire through IFLS on Facebook back in November. I played for a bit, then I took a long break to study for finals, but came back in the spring semester.
Share a short story that helps the world get to know you.
Even though I feel like I know so much about neuroscience, I’ve never taken college level biology, nor do I want to. I love reading about recent breakthroughs in science and technology, but I prefer to do so on my own time. I have considered doing some of MIT’s online classes though, even if they aren’t necessary for my major.
Anything else you’d like to add?
I hope to use what I’ve learned from EyeWire and the Seung Lab to help me succeed as an engineer!
