Featured Eyewirer: @dragonturtle
A behind the scenes look at the Eyewire community.
Meet the Eyewirers who are mapping the brain. Today’s featured Eyewirer is @dragonturtle.
Introduce yourself!
My name is Kevin. I’m an aircraft Technician working at IAH Houston, Texas, Continental/United, for the past 33 yrs. The work has been challenging to mundane. I have change out everything from engines and landing gear to wet seat cushions and ash trays, remember those on airplanes? Retiring soon, yay.
Why do you play Eyewire?
I used to play other computer games quit a bit, all the way back when you loaded them with a floppy drive. Eyewire gives new meaning to playing mindless games to relax by being able to play a fairly complex puzzle game that is actually scientific research that will be recorded and used for future research and discoveries. FOR SCIENCE!!!!!
How did you discover Eyewire?
While visiting family in 2013 a scientific magazine had an article about Eyewire. Something about it caught my interest and I joined right away but my laptop wasn’t able to play it so I had to wait until I got home and sign in on my desktop. It took about 1 1/2 years to be able to figure out the concept and become a scout.
