EyeWire and Citizen Science, An Outside Perspective; Welcome!

Hello all! My name is Ariel, and I am an avid EyeWirer by the alias of @aesanta1 as well as an aspiring scientist. EyeWire has been my gateway into the scientific world, and I, along with thousands of other EyeWirers, are able to contribute to major real-world discoveries in the field of neuroscience. Thanks to citizen science operations, this knowledge and the opportunity to participate would not be possible. All are welcome to be a part of the neuroscience revolution through EyeWire!

EyeWire is focused on understanding the structure of neurons in the retina (the back of the eye) and how it contributes to mechanisms behind perception and vision within mammals. With the help of hundreds of thousands of players from all over the world, these cells are mapped and analyzed at speeds that are exponentially faster than research that is done by just a few scientists in a standard laboratory setting. Cell by cell, discovery awaits!
