Eldendaf’s Scouts’ Log is the Scouts’ Log of your dreams!
As the sun sets on the Scouts’ Log of Yore, The day dawns on the Scouts’ Log of the Future
How much do you love Google spreadsheets? If the answer is “so much!” then I have some disappointing news for you.
Everyone else should be thrilled to learn that EyeWire’s Scouts’ Log is officially moving out of Spreadsheets and into its new home in EyeWire’s interface!
If you are a new Scout or Scythe and have not yet downloaded the new Scouts’ Log extension, click here, or get it at scoutslog.org.
Lets take a look at some of the great new features of the in-game Scouts’ Log!
Site Integration
The most obvious improvement in the new Scouts’ Log is that you don’t have to leave EyeWire to use it. The Scouts’ Log now appears as a menu in the EyeWire UI, quite similar to the Scouts’ Toolbox that you are already familiar with.
Like the Toolbox, you can drag the Scouts’ Log menu around your screen and customize your interface in a way that works for you!
You can even double-click the Scouts’ Log icon to change it to a vertical menu.
Hello Notifications
Have you ever put an entry into the Scouts’ Log only to see it sit there neglected for hours? With the new Scouts’ Log any online players will be immediately notified of cubes that need attention.
Scythes will see a grey notification icon on the “Need Scythe” button when a “Need Scythe” entry is added. There are also notifications for “Need Admin” entries, so you should no longer need to send emails or PMs to Admins asking them to correct a cube for you!
Goodbye Imgur
The new Scouts’ Log has it’s own screenshot system that automatically takes a picture any time you add a new entry to the log.
This means you DON’T have to take your own screenshots, you DON’T have to upload them to Imgur and you DON’T have to link to any images in your entry!
The screenshot system also automatically labels the cube with a cell ID, cube ID, and username of the submitter. Amazing!
Features Features Features!
The new Scouts’ Log has a ton of information about each open task, including the task’s current status, weight, last user, and a time-stamped history of player entries made on said cube.
Also, once the cube has been “Set to Good,” it disappears from the Open Tasks list so that you no longer have to wade through a ton of tasks that no longer need attention.
Know your History
The Scouts’ Log also features a handy brand new tool that the old Scouts’ Log did not have. The History button shows you all your completed tasks and your personal accuracy on each task. This is a great feature for identifying cubes that might need to be Scythed, and gives you lots of feedback to help you improve your overall accuracy!
Many thanks to player @Eldendaf who designed this new feature. This new log should make Scouting/Scything even more fun than it already was. We know, an near impossible task, but Eldendaf has made it happen!
