The 2016 Summer Olympics are getting under way and we’re sure you’ve all been following closely as the best of the best athletes compete on the world stage!

At Eyewire we’re beginning our own Summer Games where the best of the best Eyewirers compete for points, glory, and science!  Join us for one (or all!) of our 5 Games events, which we’ve modeled after some great Olympic sports.

Grab a comfy chair, do some finger stretches, and ready your cup of coffee.

Join us at eyewire.org and let the Games begin!

Diving for Accuracy Happy Hours

First session runs 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Friday 8/19
Second session runs 10:00 PM to 11:59 PM on Friday 8/19

Dive deep into some Eyewire cubes as Happy Hour commences.  As with the Olympic sport, this event focuses on form and accuracy.  Try not to splash any incorrect segments all over your cubes!

Bonuses:
1st Place Accuracy – 10,000 points
2nd Place Accuracy – 8,000 points
3rd Place Accuracy – 6,000 points
Achieve 95% Accuracy – 5,000 points
Achieve 90% Accuracy – 3,000 points
Achieve 80% Accuracy – 2,000 points
1,000 points for anyone under 80% who still plays at least 10 cubes in either slot.
(These bonus thresholds are non-cumulative, i.e. they will not combine. If you earn 3rd place, for instance, and presumably got over 95% accuracy, you still earn a 6,000 point bonus, not 11,000.)

Taekwondo Evil Cubes

Begins at 12:01 AM on Saturday 8/20
Ends at 12:00 PM on Thursday 8/25

Those Evil Cubes are certainly tricky!  But they’re no match for the power and finesse of a master of Taekwondo.  Hammer fist those segments into place, and drop kick the mergers back into oblivion!

Bonuses:
1st Place Accuracy – 8,000 points
2nd Place Accuracy – 5,000 points
3rd Place Accuracy – 3,000 points
1,000 points for anyone under 80% accuracy who still plays all 12 cubes.
(These bonus thresholds are non-cumulative, i.e. they will not combine. If you earn 3rd place, for instance, and presumably got over 80% accuracy, you still earn a 3,000 point bonus, not 4,000.)

Fencing Trivia + Trivia Power Hour

Continues until 11:00 AM on Tuesday 8/23
Finishes with Power Hour from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Tuesday 8/23

What ho! Verily (and forsooth), if ever there were a sport with the wittiest competitors, it must be fencing. At least… that’s what we’re given to understand from watching too many adaptations of The Three Musketeers as children.

1 question per hour for the main trivia timeframe, 1 question every 2 minutes for the power hour.

Bonuses:
For every question —
1st to answer – 300 points
2nd to answer – 200 points
3rd to answer – 100 points

Ends at 10:00 AM on Thursday 8/25

There’s only one Olympic sport that can represent the Eyewire Marathon, and that is… drumroll please… the Marathon of course!  You have 24 hours to trace our marathon cell, so better lace up some tiny finger sneakers and get going!
