Blocks and blocks of neurons

Three EyeWire animations (neurons mapped by EyeWirers, low poly neurons in space and meltcube) are featured in a month-long Times Square neuroart exhibit as a part of the Midnight Moment, “the largest coordinated effort in history by the sign operators in Times Square to display synchronized, cutting-edge creative content on electronic billboards and newspaper kiosks throughout Times Square every night.”

Huge thanks to the EyeWire community – you mapped all the neurons in the show. Without you guys this wouldn’t be possible.

Drawing on imagery from the leading neuroscience labs around the world, Brain City is a journey through the vast avenues of the human brain. Displaying brand new digital simulations, fly-throughs, and microscopic images of neurons from several major neuroscientific endeavors including Eyewire, The Human Brain Project, CLARITY, and Neurodome, the array of screens in Times Square will surround the viewer in the latest visual reconstructions of the brain, providing a sense of being surrounded by complex systems, inside and out.
